Big Hat Days draw thousands to Clovis
From patriotic hats to sombreros, folks despite the warm April weather came out to the celebration.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Thousands of people enjoyed the warm weather at Big Hat Days in Old Town Clovis Saturday.

"This hat symbolizes this beautiful country, you know, God bless America," visitor Tariq Siddiqui exclaimed.

From patriotic hats to sombreros, folks despite the warm April weather came out to the celebration.

"It's a little warm but it's not enough to scare us," Stephen Diaz said.

The annual event reeled in thousands of Central Valley residents, many of them roaming the streets with food and drinks in hand.

People near the Tropical Hut tent enjoyed pina colada's. The owner's son says they sold out of pineapples and coconuts within hours being open.

"We just went to go get more right now," Maurico Perez with the store said. "We sold over the past four hours over 450 pineapples."

Business was also booming for Bobby Salazar's where the line was stretched outside of the door. The manager says they were more busy this year during the event than last year

"We've had people turn all day families eating dining leaving coming and going so it's been a good day, lots of money today," manager Denise Domingues said laughing.

It's a lot of fun whether you're a kid in your parents arm or an adult carrying an umbrella, trying to brave the heat.
