Brake Parts Incorporated to lay off 45 people

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The Chowchilla plant for Brake Parts Inc. plans to layoff 45 people in the next few weeks.

Brake Parts Incorporated had previously said in a press release they would be laying off 111 people on Tuesday. However, Randy Clausen, VP for Global Human Resources, later said there would be no layoffs on Tuesday.

Instead, Clausen said the company plans to layoff 29 people on April 29th and 16 more people on May 27th. When the layoffs are complete, the company plans to have 89 people employed at the plant that will primarily serve the needs of a single California customer.

The City of Chowchilla has been working with the company to try to save the plant as they are one of the largest employers in the city.
