Downtown Fresno bar set to close

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A downtown Fresno restaurant and bar is closing its doors.

The Republican opened last October in the same building where Fresno's Downtown Club used to be.

In a message on Facebook Friday, owner Kate McKnight said The Republican is closing its doors at the end of the month.

She said, ultimately, the overhead was too high and the total sales were too low.

McKnight also thanked patrons who supported the bar and restaurant.

Details about the actual last day are still being worked out.
