Fresno market reopens after a fire ripped through last year

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A southeast Fresno business is back open again after fire ripped through it.

Monday marked the grand opening for Dulceria Mojica Market on Tulare and Cedar Avenues.

The small, family business went up in flames last June. The only thing that was recognizable after the fire was a toy truck that's now displayed above the front door.

The store sells a variety of candy, party favors and pinatas. They also sell produce and items to other nearby small businesses.

Employees say they're looking forward to this new chapter. "We're excited after 7 months of cleaning up the store, all the drama that happened, the fork lift being stolen," employee Claudia Ibanez said. "It was one thing after another. I think after 7 months they're really happy to reopen and come back up after so much loss."

About five people will be employed at the market.

The store is open until 8 p.m. Monday to Thursday and Friday through Sunday until 9 p.m.
