Hustler Hollywood receives mixed reaction as construction ramps up in North Fresno

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The adult store Hustler Hollywood is getting closer to an opening in northeast Fresno.

Right off Highway 41, it is clear what's coming - the controversial adult store Hustler Hollywood.

"I noticed the sign right away, it said 'Hustler Hollywood' and I was like surprised," neighbor Francine Fox said.

Fox spotted it while exiting at the offramp. She is not entirely happy it is here.

"It's in such an obvious spot where families, children, everyone can see it," she said. "You know it's not hidden somewhere on a side street."

But the signs are up and inside the lights are on. It's very different from what it looked like three months ago when it still resembled the old Silver Dollar Hofbrau building, and when Hustler Hollywood was suing the city to sell its sexually explicit products.

Gina Warden is ready for the grand opening. She has a message for those worried about what it will bring.

"Honestly, I mean come on, it's there," she said. "It's online, you buy it anywhere you want, it's nice to be able to do it locally."

However, the doors will not be unlocked just yet. The City of Fresno released this statement reading:

"Hustler Hollywood got a tenant improvement permit back in June to do interior renovations. They also applied for a signage permit and received permission to display outside signage on their wall facing HWY. 41. They have given us no indication of when they will complete their work but they'll need to pass inspection before they open."

And when that happens and the fence comes down, Fox says she is not going to let it upset her.

"There are people that want that, I'm not happy about it, but to each his own," she said.

And we reached out to Hustler Hollywood to see when it will be opening its doors for the first time, but we have not heard back from them.
