FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A new store in Central Fresno is taking the space of an old bowling alley and putting dozens of people to work. Walmart is opening up a Neighborhood Market near Cedar and Shields avenues -- the space that used to be occupied by Cedar Lanes.

Employees stocked shelves on Monday in preparation for the fast-approaching grand opening. The store is 41,000 square feet, offering a full line of groceries and a pharmacy. It is the third Walmart Neighborhood Market to open in the Fresno-Clovis area and will provide jobs for 85 people.

"It's gonna help the surrounding businesses and it's also going to give residents of this area a quick, fast, clean and friendly environment to come shopping in," store manager Matt Enochs said.

The grand opening of the store is April 1.
