FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Thursday was a big day for job seekers. Hundreds came out to the Big Fresno Fairgrounds for their sixth annual job fair. We're used to seeing lines at the Big Fresno Fairgrounds but they're usually for funnel cake or carnival rides. Less than two months away from the long-standing Valley tradition organizers are ready to hire.

"The mission of the Big Fresno Fair is to celebrate, educate, and have fun and we want all of our employees to exude all of those things," said Lauri King, Big Fresno Fair Deputy Manager.

Founded in 1884, the Big Fresno Fair is the fifth largest fair in the state of California drawing nearly 650,000 people each year.

"We pride ourselves on being an integral part of our community, and we like our money to stay local," said King.

For a sixth-year department supervisors met face to face with hundreds of eager candidates. Positions available included parking attendants, maintenance staff, customer service reps, and security guards.

"We want to make sure that everyone that comes here has an amazing time, and that starts with our employees," said King.

Many came dressed for success-- like Trevon Kursh.

"Oh yeah, first impression is always the key. So I try to keep myself up."

Kursh found the fairs flexibility with his school schedule most appealing.

"I always loved the fair as a kid, so I want to help it out, put some smiles on some people's faces," said Raymond Canal, job seeker.

Canal is just shy of his 18th birthday-- which is the first day of the fair. He's looking for his first job.

"I feel like I'm very good with people. I feel like I would be a good asset to the fair."

All in all the job fair is going to fill about 500 positions for the Big Fresno Fair.
