CHP investigate shooting on Highway 99 near Kingsburg

KINGSBURG, Calif. (KFSN) -- The California Highway Patrol is investigating a shooting on northbound Highway 99 during Monday morning rush hour near Kingsburg.

Investigators say someone in a vehicle used a BB-gun to fire at a pickup truck and shattered the passenger side window.

No one was hurt but the incident has law enforcement on notice.

California Highway Patrol spokesman Victor Taylor said, "Even with a BB-gun, that can harm you cause you to have a traffic collision kill someone or yourself so it's a great concern to us."

At this point in the investigation, authorities do not believe the incident is connected to similar shootings in Fresno and Madera Counties where investigators are looking for a dark-colored pickup truck with oversized tires.

What has law enforcement concerned is the idea that someone will try to mimic the shootings.

"They're not going to be related to the Madera or Fresno or freeway shootings here in Fresno County," Taylor said. "With that, I think all law enforcement, in general, is kind of terrified that we're going to have copycats."

While investigators search for clues in the vicinity of Bethel and Kam Avenue they are doing so without a suspect or vehicle description authorities need your help to solve this case.

The suspect is facing misdemeanor charges in the shooting at CHP Headquarters in Fresno.
