FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Dozens of people hit the road Saturday morning to pay tribute to a longtime local educator. About 150 runners and walkers went around Woodward Park during the 5K Jimmy Fun Run.

Jimmy Harris was a principal at several Fresno Unified elementary schools over the years and an avid runner himself.

He completed 22 marathons before a leukemia diagnosis in December 2016. He died less than three months later, but his son is making sure it leads to something good.

The Jimmy Fun Run raises money for Total Life Change, a faith-based counseling program.

"Everybody goes through hiccups in life. We're like a concierge service. If we can't help you in our center, with marriage counseling, one-on-one mentoring, codependency or anger management - we will navigate you to the right place so you can find the help you need," Todd Harris said.

Saturday's inaugural fun run raised more than $2,000.
