Education program wows Merced kids with science

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Students in the Merced City School District's Youth Enrichment Program ended the summer session Friday with some exciting hands-on activities this week.

The World of Wonders Science Museum in Lodi sent its Wow on Wheels team to the YEP classes at John Muir Elementary.

One of the programs challenged the children to build balloon rockets using just balloons, tape, string, and straws.

Another program taught the students about chemical reactions by allowing them to make their own slime and a third activity focused on the magical world of magnets.

The Summer Youth Enrichment program ended Thursday and the regular session will begin when school resumes on August 15th at four different elementary schools.
