Officials: No credible threat to students' safety at Lemoore HS
Police and school administrators insist there is no credible threat to students' safety at Lemoore High School. They're encouraging students to return to school on Tuesday.

LEMOORE, Calif. (KFSN) -- Dozens of Lemoore police officers and Kings County Sheriff's deputies descended upon Lemoore High School on Monday in an effort to protect students from any possible threats of violence on campus.

In a press conference late Monday afternoon, officials said the rumored threats of a shooting were rampant on social media but they weren't valid.

"None of these rumors have any credibility to warrant any ongoing fear moving forward," said Lemoore Police Chief Darrel Smith.

The rumored shooting was apparently in retaliation of a stabbing that took place at a large party south of Hanford early Sunday morning. Students from Lemoore and Hanford high schools were some of those who attended the up to 400-person party. Three people who authorities say have no gang ties were stabbed and sent to the hospital.

No arrests have been made, and now officials are hoping people will turn in any cellphone pictures and video from the party.

"Technology is bad and good in these cases at times, and so we're really looking to turn the technology in our favor in this instant and get some pictures and cellphone video so that way we can hopefully identify the suspects," said Kings County Sheriff Dave Robinson.

Administrators say only about 1/3 of Lemoore High's students showed up to class on Monday, putting a huge disruption on the school's daily assignments and activities.

"I would encourage you to send your students to school tomorrow as we will have law enforcement there all week. We will have extra supervision on campus. Students are safe to come to school," said Lemoore High School Principal Rodney Brumit.

Investigators are still trying to interview people from that party near Hanford, and they need more information. Anyone who has any details about the stabbing is asked to call the Kings County Sheriff's Office.
