U.C. Merced honors thousands of new graduates

U.C. MERCED (KFSN) -- More than a thousand U.C. Merced students are looking forward to the next chapter in their lives after graduating this weekend.

"It's really exciting, and I feel so blessed to be here with my family and friends celebrating what I've accomplished and what they've helped me to do," said Dalton Rogers, U.C. Merced graduate.

The university was filled with families following the second of two commencements on Sunday. This one recognized the school of social sciences, humanities, and arts. On Saturday, the schools of engineering and natural sciences had their ceremony.

Many of the new graduates are the first in their family to get a college degree.
