VISALIA, Calif. -- The Visalia Unified School District and Visalia Chamber of Commerce joined together to celebrate the launch of the "Linked Learning Academies." The program combines rigorous academics with career-themed classes and work based learning.

The chamber and school district are also working to connect local businesses with students in the classroom.

"We're really excited about these academies because it really does give them career awareness, an opportunity to explore careers and really work with industry partners," said Bill Davis, Visalia Unified School District.

Many business leaders have already joined advisory boards and are working with Visalia Unified to formulate curriculum and provide on-site job tours for students.
