FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The Big Fresno Fair is less than two months away. Thursday, a job fair was held to help fill hundreds of positions.

With applicants in hand, hundreds of Valley residents lined up and waited their turn for a chance to interview and potentially land a job at this year's Big Fresno Fair.

"Before we opened," said Stacy Rianda. "We had probably about 50 people out there waiting in line until we opened the gates, then as soon as the gates opened, everybody started coming in and filling in the cues. It's been great."

The fair needs to fill more than 500 jobs to run the entire grounds during the two week event.

Rianda added, "We've been hiring for everything from janitorial to guest services, horse races, you name it, we're hiring for it security, except the carnival."

Most of the positions are minimum wage, but those in cashiers will earn more.

Fair officials say people will be interviewed in the coming weeks and if residents missed out on the event, they can always drop off an application at the fair office.

Some of the people hired will start work in September, but others will start on the first day of the fair, which is October first.
