Children's Musical Theater fights fire by going under the sea

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Young performers with the Children's Musical Theater works are bringing the popular movie, the Little Mermaid, to life in Fresno.

In May, a fire at a Clovis storage facility left this non-profit group in need of additional space to build their backgrounds. But since then, the community has stepped up to help and the group was able to build and the performers have gotten back to the stage. As they say, the show must go on.

Journey "under the sea" with Ariel and her aquatic friends in Disney's the Little Mermaid Jr., adapted from Disney's 2008 Broadway production. In a magical underwater kingdom, the beautiful young mermaid Ariel longs to leave her ocean home, and her fins, behind and live in the world above. But first she'll have to defy her father King Triton, make a deal with the evil sea witch Ursula, and convince the handsome Prince Eric that she's the girl whose enchanting voice he's been seeking.

The Little Mermaid Jr. runs this Friday through Sunday at the Veterans Memorial Theater. Tickets are $10 for kids and adults are $14 to $22.
