'Dancing with the Stars' has fun with favorite TV theme songs
A little extra security was on hand in week 2 as the cast of "Dancing with the Stars" showed their support for Ryan Lochte.

LOS ANGELES -- To borrow a phrase from head judge Len Goodman, there was "no messing about" this week on "Dancing with the Stars."

No big opening dance number, no guest performer... we got straight into the competition for TV Theme Song Week. Here's a rundown of week two's scores, from highest to lowest:

Laurie Hernandez- 32 out of 40

The Olympic gold medalist remains the clear frontrunner for season 23. She danced a jive to the theme from the animated "Ducktales." Of course, she's too young to know what a "Ducktale" is! The judges could not wipe the smiles off their four faces. Head judge Len Goodman said her routine was full of snap, crackle and pop; Bruno Tonioli called her a firecracker and a leading lady; and Julianne Hough dubbed her Disney's Beyonce!

Terra Jole- 31 out of 40

This routine is the first time for Terra and Sasha Farber to dance in frame. They've got a very fast quickstep to the theme from "Bewitched." She remains fearless and throws herself around the rehearsal room, even though she has to really work to keep up with Sasha. Len likened Terra to a sparkly diamond; Julianne said it was the best frame she's seen and her favorite dance of the night; and Bruno told Jole he was officially under her spell.

Babyface Edmonds- 30 out of 40

Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds was assigned the Argentine tango and he was thrilled with Allison Holker told him he didn't have to smile in this dance! He lets us know he's quite shy, and was awkward with the sexy dance. He brought his good friend Toni Braxton into rehearsal to help encourage his moves. Her coaching helped! Julianne told him he's been a surprise so far and she can't wait to see what's next on his journey; Bruno made a reference to the 'X-Files' theme song he danced to and think there's so much more "out there" for us to see with Babyface; and Carrie Ann Inaba loves his understanding of the music.

James Hinchcliffe- 29 out of 40
The racecar driver who not a lot of people knew before last week (but who is now a favorite) was in quite a tight spot this week. It's the last week of his racing season and he only had TWO days to rehearse. James and Sharna Burgess had a Paso doble to the theme from "The Walking Dead." But somewhere along the way he put the pedal to the metal and got it done. Carrie Ann was impressed with their synchronicity; Len thinks James could be quite an accomplished dancer but wanted the routine to have more actual dance steps and not so many zombies; and Julianne appreciated his commitment during a rough schedule and praised the way he could get into character.

Marilu Henner- 29 out of 40

Marilu and a foxtrot seem like a match made in heaven. The tricky part is the song: the theme from her classic sitcom, "Taxi." (Remember it? Slow...) Derek Hough had a tricky time getting his head around how to choreograph this one. But he found a version of the song that was a bit peppier and it worked beautifully. Bruno praised Marilu's lovely, graceful lines; Carrie Ann thought the dance was filled with character and content; and Len said forget "Taxi," this dance was a Rolls Royce.

Jana Kramer- 29 out of 40

Jana did the tango to the theme from her previous show "One Tree Hill." And she did it with much pain! During rehearsal she tore some muscles around her ribs. You could see and hear her wincing throughout the week's video. But she was a trooper and in the fashion of the show must go on, it did. And they earned an 8 from Len! Julianne, Bruno and Carrie Ann all thought she needs to work on her lines and extending her legs/pointing her toes, but they know Jana has raw talent.

Calvin Johnson Jr- 28 out of 40

The football star lets us know he likes the idea of getting to let loose and have fun without putting on a game face. He also says what he learned from week one is the importance of performing a part on the dance floor. He gets to do it up big this week by transforming himself into Urkel for a foxtrot to the "Family Matters" theme. There were nothing but smiles from the judges, with Len saying watching Calvin dance brings him joy; Julianne likes what he gives to the audience; and Carrie Ann called him so darn cute. And yes, Calvin said he never gets that reaction from his football friends!

Maureen McCormick- 26 out of 40

Maureen definitely gets a "most improved" ribbon this week. She was understandably bummed by the low scores she received during week one, but she seems to be getting over her nerves. TV Mom Florence Henderson stopped by rehearsal (and made a cameo in the quickstep routine to the "Brady Bunch" theme!) and that appeared to boost her spirits even more. All four judges applauded the increase in her confidence level, and encouraged her to bring that relaxed feeling to the ballroom from now on.

Vanilla Ice - 26 out of 40

The side many people don't know about Vanilla Ice, aka Robert Van Winkle, is that his favorite role is "dad." He's got two teenage daughters who are the light of his life. He danced a foxtrot to the theme from "Married with Children", which you might recall was a song called "Love and Marriage" by Frank Sinatra. Bruno said while the dance wasn't the ultimate in elegance, it was effective and he played the character well; Carrie Ann thought he was more revealing this week and liked his pizzazz but reprimanded him for lip syncing. Len's line of the night was that the dance was "a thriller from vanilla," and he praised his improvement in movement.

Ryan Lochte- 24 out of 40

Ryan talked briefly about last week's "incident" and what really bothered him about the surprise protesters was when he looked into the audience and saw his mom in tears; that crushed him. But he's mustering that Olympic spirit and moving forward. Cheryl Burke choreographed a fast and fun quickstep to the theme from "The Muppet Show." Ryan told us just hearing that song made him smile. The judges had positive things to say about his attitude and commitment; and equally negative things to say about his footwork and frame. Bruno let him know that mistakes happen, and encouraged him to come back and keep up the energy and positive attitude. He also reminded him they only judge the contestants on their dancing.

Amber Rose - 24 out of 40

Amber loves the character of Khaleesi from "Game of Thrones" because she's a powerful woman who won't stop until she gets what she wants. Maksim Chmerkovskiy choreographs a Viennese Waltz to that series' theme song. Amber loves Maks' coaching style, and appreciates when he pushes her. Len thought the routine captured the mood, and was imaginative, but would have liked more ballroom hold (Maks agreed); Julianne complimented her for taking their notes from last week and putting them to use; and Bruno thinks she's moving in the right direction.

Jake T. Austin- 24 out of 40

Jake was clearly disappointed with his scores from week one and wants to do better. He and Jenna Johnson are tasked with doing a cha to the theme from the animated "Go Diego Go!" which happens to have been Jake's first job. He was the voice of Diego at age nine! Carrie Ann and Len both told Jake he's getting ahead of the music and losing timing; they advised him to slow down, breathe, and relax.

Rick Perry- 22 out of 40

The good news for the former Texas governor is his score jumped up two points from week one. The bad news - he still only received a 22, including two 5's. Bruno gave him credit for enthusiasm but thought his footwork during the tango to "Green Acres" looked like heavy machinery. Carrie Ann thought he wasn't really artistic, but was efficient. Len said he needed more polish, but Perry looked like he was having fun.

Tuesday night we're back in the ballroom for season 23's first elimination.
