LOS ANGELES -- The glitz and glamour of The Oscars requires a lot of work the day before the ceremony and workers put on the finishing touches Saturday.

Inside the Dolby Theater flowers were being arranged. The bleachers for fans now line the red carpet, as the media brings the Hollywood story to viewers around the world.

Good Morning America's Amy Robach was spotted getting ready her close-up on the red carpet.

Family and friends of executives of the Academy lined up to get an exclusive sneak peak of Saturday's walk through and rehearsal.

"Any time you have those candid moments in an awards show and you wonder, was that planned, was that really happening there live? We're going to be the ones that know," said Elizabeth Eller, a Culver City resident.

Amateur photographers are getting their close-ups. People are coming a day early so they can say they were here.

"I am like a child in a candy store. I am so excited. I want to walk on the red carpet without the plastic being there. I want to walk up those stairs," said Gerry Kenney, a Joshua Tree resident.

Two San Jose residents were spotted visiting the red carpet. "Our job sent us out here just to have a good time and to check out the Oscars," said San Jose resident Krista Frausco.

They didn't see any celebrities Saturday, but they had their Hollywood moment last night.

"Denzel Washington, Denzel Washington. We were at the Laker game last night," Frausco said.

Watch the Oscars this Sunday on ABC! Live red carpet coverage begins at 5 p.m. ET | 4 p.m. CT | 2 p.m. PT with "ON THE RED CARPET AT THE OSCARS." Check your local listings.
