Jewel FM plans to play Daniel Burdick's music

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- They say a good man, or woman, is hard to find. We found one young man who not only has a heart of gold, but is gifted with a golden voice.

You may remember Daniel Burdick from a story we brought you back in June. Burdick is a Bay Area musician and was ready to go on tour when he found out his ex-girlfriend -- and the mother of his young daughter needed a kidney transplant. As it turned out, Burdick was a perfect match. He abandoned plans for a music tour and underwent transplant surgery to save Sabrina Timms' life.

Burdick's story of self-sacrifice has since spread all over California. It wasn't long before music producers, recording studios, even a manager stepped in and offered to help.

Fresno radio station Jewel FM saw the story and got in touch with Burdick. Music director Mike Brady says they want to play his music. "Number one, it's about the music... and Daniel, as you know, has an incredible gift. He sounds awesome! But the back story on this is just phenomenal."

And the back story is phenomenal. Even though Daniel Burdick and Sabrina Timms' are no longer living together, their daughter hope has kept them close. And Burdick told said he has great respect for her as a mother. "She does a lot and she's really good at it. So the kids deserve to have her in their life."

We caught up with Burdick on Friday night as he was meeting with a new friend -- another up and coming musician, Dylan Chambers. Dylan is the son of Lester Chambers -- of the Chambers Brothers group back in the 1960s.

Daniel Burdick has a definite soulful sound. Part of that may be because he used to listen to the radio with his mom whose favorite artists were Al Green and Otis Redding.

You can listen to a couple of Daniel Burdick's songs here -- until his new songs are played on Jewel FM and other radio stations across the country

Been Loving You So Long - Otis Redding - MP3
