FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Most people know Lou Pardini as Chicago's gifted keyboardist, a triple threat, and Grammy-nominated artist.

In Fresno, there is an added layer of familiarity.

"Thank you all for coming, all my friends. We're looking forward to a great night of music, I know you'll enjoy," said Pardini.

Pardini grew up in the Central Valley. As a child, he was often sent to the principal's office for randomly breaking out in dance.

"They said ugh, I'm glad your grades are improving, but you've got to calm down."

On Friday, 'Chicago' was honored with a reading on the floor of the House of Representatives and the City of Fresno, as well as the County, renamed October 6th -- Lou Pardini and Chicago Day.

"I'm pretty blown away, growing up here, to get this honor. I'm very touched and very thankful."

The Pardini family will be present at tonight's concert. After all, its Pardini's first time performing at the Big Fresno Fair -- a place he frequented as a kid.

"I've got a lot of family, yeah. They're going to be there so that's like singing in the living room when I was a kid, very nerve-wracking,"

The show kicks off as part of the table Mountain Concert series tonight at 7 p.m
