Suspected honey oil explosion inside Tulare County mobile home critically injures four

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Four people were rushed to the hospital in critical condition Saturday morning after the mobile home they were in exploded, authorities say.

Neighbors reported a loud explosion near Mooney Boulevard and Pacific Avenue just after 9 a.m. When fire crews arrived, they found a house fully engulfed in flames and the victims outside with severe burns.

"People running out of the house and looked burnt, their clothes looked completely burnt off just yelling and asking for help," witness Chris Moreno.

One victim was airlifted to an area hospital while the three others were transported by ground to hospitals in Visalia and Fresno, according to the Tulare County Fire Department.

"With burn victims, it's the next 24 to 48 hours are critical because you have the sepsis and potential inhalation burns," Tulare County Fire Chief Charlie Norman said.

Authorities are still investigating the cause of the explosion, but they say it was potentially a honey oil lab explosion. Honey oil is a form of concentrated marijuana that requires explosive and volatile ingredients to produce.

The identities of the four male victims are unknown, but neighbors say at least one victim was a renter of the house.
