Extra police at Selma High as precaution after social media threat
A post about possible shooting threat on social media is made its rounds on Facebook.

SELMA, Calif. (KFSN) -- A post about possible shooting threat on social media is making its rounds on Facebook. The post is scaring many parents and students around the country and in Selma-- some saying they won't be at school Thursday.

The Facebook post has a very vague message; it warns students at "SHS" about a shooting but it never said exactly what high school. Meaning it could be any school that starts with the letter "S".

The Selma Police Department was notified of this possible threat and has determined it's not credible. Dozens of other police departments and schools, including in Ohio, Arkansas, Oregon, and Louisiana are dealing with this same post from what appears to be the same person.

Most the departments saying the post originated out of their states. It's still unclear where this post actually came from.

The Selma Police Department said that while this is not a credible threat they will still increase their law enforcement presences at the school as needed.

Other departments across the state have also taken steps as a precaution.
