Indiana Boy Becomes 5th in Family to Wear 61-Year-Old ?Picture Day' Sweater in Adorable Tradition
Five different members of the Gose family spanning three generations have all worn the same sweater in their first grade school picture.

Picking out the perfect outfit for School Picture Day can be a complex process for parents and kids, unless you're in the Gose family. Five different family members spanning three generations have all worn the same sweater in their first grade school picture.

Seven-year-old Brady Gose became the most recent member of his family to don the now 61-year-old sweater when he wore it this past week for his class photo.

The tradition began with Brady's great-uncle in 1954. Brady's grandfather wore it again in 1958 and their youngest brother wore it again when he was in the first grade.

"As far as I know, my grandma just purchased it in 1954 and then had my dad and his two brothers all wore it for their first grade picture day as a novelty," Brady's dad Chuck told ABC News.

Chuck got the sweater in 1982, and even at just 7 years old, vowed to his sentimental mother that he would keep the tradition alive with his own child one day.

"My father passed away in 1999 before I was married and had children, so for me, this is a chance for me dad to live on through this tradition," Chuck said. "It's also a chance for Brady to learn more about the grandfather he never got to know. When I handed to him, he naturally asked a lot of questions about his grandpa. The two of them are actually pretty similar. They're both quite the jokester."

The story of the sweater has made Brady a local celebrity in his Indiana town and he already knows that he will be passing it on to his own children.

"He thinks it's great and he knows the sweater is very special to our family," Chuck said.
