FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A large explosion and fire destroyed a southeast Fresno trailer and investigators are left to figure out what caused it.

Firefighters received reports of several explosions and a large plume of smoke coming from the home near Second and Butler in southeast Fresno around 8 p.m. Monday.

Witnesses say they tried to help, but the flames were too much.

"So I run back there and I'm screaming trying to help -- thinking the other person was in that trailer when that person wasn't. And knowing I could get hurt back there. I couldn't do it. I got close to the flames, it was too hot, too hot. Came back and I got my phone and I called," said Amanda Garcia, witness.

Firefighters found downed power lines arcing in front of the trailer, so to stay safe, they had to attack the fire from another side. That caused delays in putting the fire out.

Flames destroyed the trailer as well as some nearby sheds and surrounding fences. Firefighters say they couldn't search the home for any possible victims or to fully assess the damage until PG&E got out there to cut the power.

No one was hurt.
