Firefighters working to contain the School Fire in Madera County
Firefighters are working to contain a grass fire burning near North Fork in Madera County.

MADERA COUNTY (KFSN) -- Firefighters are working to contain a grass fire burning near North Fork in Madera County. The School Fire started around 5:30 Tuesday near Road 230 and Road 225.

The blaze grew to about 12 acres and is currently 80 percent contained. At one point, the fire had closed in on several structures, but firefighters were able to protect those buildings and push back the flames.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
