Turkeys Honest and Abe were saved from the Thanksgiving dinner table by receiving a presidential pardon on Wednesday.
The birds were hand-picked by White House officials last week at a Foster Farms facility in Modesto.
"I can't believe this is my 7th turkey pardon. Time flies, even though turkeys don't," said President Obama.
One turkey is an alternate in case the winning turkey decides not to cooperate during today's official pardoning.
After today's ceremony, they will live out their days on a Virginia estate.
