Former Fresno County deputy has sentencing delayed in molestation case

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A former Fresno County Sheriff's Deputy found guilty of child molestation also had his sentencing delayed in this case for the second time.

Back in January, Rex Garcia's initial sentencing was delayed because he requested a change in his legal representation.

Garcia spent a lifetime in law enforcement but in his retirement, he often snuck into a teenage relative's bedroom and was caught on a hidden camera. Video showed Garcia going into the room while she slept.

Garcia claims he went in to make sure windows were closed and she was safe. But the girl said he actually molested her over the course of six years.

Garcia could face up to 16 years in prison.
