Fresno chiropractor on trial for sex crimes against patients
Four victims testified Thursday, about the unconventional treatment they received from Hernandez that had nothing to do with their original aches and pains.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Four victims testified Thursday, about the unconventional treatment they received from Hernandez that had nothing to do with their original aches and pains.

Prosecutors say Arthur Hernandez took advantage of eight women who came to him to feel better but left as victims. Two women testified they went to see Hernandez for back injuries in 2016. Each described having their faces down on a chiropractic table when something unexpected happened.

Through a Spanish interpreter, the women talked about how they felt the moment they knew what the doctor was doing had nothing to do with their treatment regimen.

One patient said she immediately told Hernandez she needed to use the restroom. Another patient was hardly able to describe what she claims happened during one of her therapy sessions.

Fresno Police Detective Mike Martin told the court one of the victims said she was also confined during the assault.

"She said, using his other hand, he held her down using his weight," Martin said.

The patients said they were alone with the doctor when the inappropriate touching occurred. Police say one victim told her the crime made her depressed. Another victim said she called the police and never went back to see Hernandez again.

If convicted on the 11 counts, Hernandez could face close to 20 years in prison. The hearing continues Friday.
