Fresno Police investigate shooting in Southwest Fresno

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Lieutenant Jennifer Horsford of the Fresno Police Department says the victim was shot in the middle of the roadway, on Geary between Thorne and Plumas.

They were alerted to the shooting after an open line 911 call came in followed by a neighbor's call.

When police arrived the victim had already driven himself to the hospital. He is being treated at Community Regional Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries.

At this point, the shooter is still unaccounted for. Police tell me there was a language barrier with the shooting victim so the units at the hospital are working to get a suspect description.

"It's not was not a random incident. It appeared there was some kind of disturbance involved. We're still trying to determine the exact circumstances of the disturbance," Horsford said.

Geary will be shut down for at least the next hour as the investigation continues.
