Gang member arrested after traffic stop leads to gun and drugs

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Fresno police arrested a known gang member after pulling him over for a vehicle code infraction in Southeast Fresno.

Officials say 31-year-old Anthony Torres is a twice-convicted felon and was driving with a handgun in his vehicle near Montecito and Recreation Avenues.

Officers safely removed Torres from the vehicle and took him into custody.

The arrest comes as officers work to proactively patrol areas due to a recent uptick in gun violence between rival gangs.

With this arrest, officers say they now have taken six weapons off the streets since January 8th.
