It happened on a county island near Church and Orange Avenues. Deputies say the suspect was gathering up the victim's stolen items when he was interrupted earlier Friday.

A shattered window was the first sign something was not right at the corner house on Pitt Avenue. Before bold neighbors called Fresno County Sheriff's Deputies, they collectively decided to send in Javier De La Torre.

"He was grabbing all the electronics, putting them in his backpack and then he was saying, 'This is all my stuff.' And then the dad, he tried to stop him but he was too small. He was just pushing him back, pushing him back. So I grabbed him, 'You just gotta calm down,'" De La Torre said.

De La Torre said he was not afraid but determined to keep the suspect in place for as long as he could.

Fresno County Sheriff's Sergeant Tom Grilione says the neighbor stepped into a dangerous situation that luckily worked out -- the suspect wasn't armed.

The suspect, 33-year-old Priston Adams, was arrested at the scene. Deputies discovered the home had been picked through and the victim's belongings were all over, including outside.

"Their property has been ransacked and some of the property has been relocated to the front of the yard like it's getting set up to be taken, stolen," Grilione said.

The victim was already stunned by what happened, are even more surprised to find the suspect was dressed in their clothes. Deputies say he made himself at home when they believe he broke in Thursday night or early Friday morning.
