FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Hundreds of Valley residents laced up their tennis shoes before indulging in turkey this Thanksgiving.
Almost 2,000 people came out Thursday for the 15th annual Turkey Trot at Woodward Park. The 5K race and two-mile walk kicked off at 8 a.m.
Some dressed up in festive holiday costumes, including turkeys, pilgrims and even a dining table. Awards were given for best costume.
Race organizers say for some participants the run is as much a part of Thanksgiving as the turkey.
Money raised from the Turkey Trot goes to area charities, including scholarships for local high school cross-country athletes.
