Fres-Con takes over Fresno State this weekend
You've probably heard of Comic Con in San Diego, but this weekend you can check out a comic book convention right here in the Valley.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- You've probably heard of Comic Con in San Diego, but this weekend you can check out a comic book convention right here in the Valley.

Fresno State is hosting its first "Fres-Con." The free event is put on by the university's "Pick Your Potion" club. It includes a vendor hall where people from across the state bring collectibles, art work, and other items to sell and share. On Saturday Fres-Con also featured a cosplay contest with prizes for those who dressed up as their favorite comic and video game characters.

"Geek culture is becoming increasingly more popular and we're trying to bring it to the Valley and especially at Fresno State," said Liz Krulder, Pick Your Potion Vice President.

Fres-Con continues on Sunday starting at 10 a.m. Those who attend can also enjoy a screening of "Big Hero 6" at 4 p.m.
