Pirate Festival makes big booms at Kearney Park
Thousands of people had an explosively good time at Kearney Park this weekend.

FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. -- Thousands of people had an explosively good time at Kearney Park this weekend.

Outlaws took over the park, testing out weapons for their next sea journeys, or just to enjoy the food they can get on land. The folks who come out are actually mostly landlocked, but pirates have a certain magnetic pull.

"They could do what they needed. They could do anything without laws, outside the law -- which is why I think a lot of us are here because you're talking to doctors, nurses, emergency personnel, cops, all over the place here. And we just like getting out of our heads once in a while and being those people we can't be for real life," said Diane Hull, Fresno Pirate Festival.

The jugglers and the music make it fun for kids as well as adults, and even skeletons.
