FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A car sales manager turned into a rescuer Saturday afternoon after a scary crash on his north Fresno lot.

The staff at Hertz Car Sales rushed in to help right away after a car crashed into their parking lot, but they couldn't get into the car and smoke started coming from the engine. So, John Kafeety jumped into action.

"We heard a loud noise coming from the engine and the guy was inside just going, screaming and yelling and he wouldn't respond to us to open the door," Kafeety explained. "So, I started breaking the glass trying to get him out."

The driver finally opened the door and Kafeety helped get him out of the car.

He staggered away and waited for police and paramedics.

Authorities say the crash was not related to any medical problems and the driver seemed to have "an altered state of mind."

Kafeety says the driver destroyed a sign and hit one van, but, otherwise, the damage was relatively minimal.
