Los Banos police investigate homicide

Los Banos Police are investigating a homicide that happened early Saturday morning.

Police say at around 5:30 a.m. officers were sent to Elmwood Drive for a report of a "man down."

Officers say the victim, who has been identified as 34-year-old Scotty Moore, was shot multiple times in the upper torso. Authorities say officers attempted CPR but Moore died on scene.

Neighbors told police they heard multiple gunshots but did not immediately contact police.

"Unfortunately that is the reality often time gunshots don't go reported so I would encourage anybody to call anytime they hear suspected gunfire," Sgt. Justin Melden of the Los Banos Police Department said.

Moore admitted to being a gang member in court last year and was recently released from prison.

Police believe he was specifically targeted but they do not know the exact motive.
