Man hospitalized after being hit by car while trying to assist stranded motorist

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A man is in the hospital after he was hit by a car while trying to help a stranded motorist on the side of a highway.

Visalia Police officers say 62-year-old Raul Martinez was crossing Mineral King to get to the driver on the side of Highway 198 when he was struck by a dark car.

The driver of that vehicle took off. Martinez was last listed in critical condition.
