Man in serious condition after a hit-and-run crash in Central Fresno.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Officers are looking for a hit and run driver who struck a man in Central Fresno. The victim is in the hospital after being seriously hurt and the intersection is still blocked off.

Police say the pedestrian was acting erratically prior to getting hit. He was weaving in and out of traffic for 10 minutes on Belmont when a driver slammed into him.

That is when things got even more bizarre. The car that hit him left the scene, turned back around, drove past the body, and then fled the scene again.

Paramedics rushed the man to the hospital. He has serious injuries to his head and is in critical condition.

Police say they are unsure if he was intoxicated or on drugs.

But since the driver fled both parties appear to be at fault.

"The issue though is the driver has a duty to stop," said Fresno Police Lt. Steve Card.

Because there were so many witnesses officers have a good description of the driver's car.

It is a silver, two-door Sedan. The passenger's taillight is out and there is significant damage to the windshield.

Officers are asking for the driver to turn themselves in and want to hear their side of the story.

The intersection is expected to be closed for another hour.
