FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Police are searching for the suspect in a hit and run accident that left one man dead in Northeast Fresno.

The victim's body was found off Herndon near Millbrook in the bushes on Sunday morning. Police say he was on foot when he was hit by a vehicle.

The grim discovery was made by a citizen who reported the body to a local hospital. The victim was an Asian man in his thirties. Police added they believe the man was killed several hours before his body was found.

Investigators say the man was visiting with family before the tragedy, but it is still unclear when he was killed.

"The deceased was located in the bushes on the north side of Herndon. It was difficult to see him up until the early morning hours when the sun was rising," said Lt. Stephen Viveros, Fresno Police Department.

Investigators are now looking through surveillance video so they can get better insight into how the deadly crash unfolded. An autopsy is also scheduled to determine the exact time of death.

This traffic collision marks the 48th deadly crash in Fresno this year, resulting in a total of 51 traffic fatalities within city limits.

Police are asking the public's for help too. They say it happened at a very busy intersection and if anyone saw a white Nissan with front-end damage, they want you to report it.
