FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- One person was killed and another wounded after a shooting Saturday in Central Fresno, the Fresno Police Department said.

Authorities say around 2:30 p.m. suspects in a vehicle shot at the passengers of another car at Abby Street beneath the overpass of Highway 180. The victim vehicle, with children inside, fled from the suspects and stopped at Nielsen and Marks Avenues.

Cody Bipso was working inside the showroom of the Harley Davidson shop nearby when he heard gunshots go off.

"All of a sudden there was about five or six pops, everyone just stopped and we were all quiet," Bipso said. "It was weird to see and hear it all but walk outside and not there be anything there."

That's because part of the crime scene was a fleeing car. After being shot, police say the driver of a Chrysler 300 drove three miles in an attempt to get away from the suspects.

"They flagged down some citizens who called for help for them," Sgt. Glen Schafer with the Fresno Police Department said.

Two women found two adults in the front and two kids in the backseat, who police say are between the ages of one and five.

It is unclear though what the relationship is of the two victims or if the shooting is gang-related, but Bispo says this crime happening so close to his work is rare.

"I've never seen anything happen down here as crazy as it seems, being in downtown," he said. "Never been feared or anything, always been calm."
