1 killed after Amtrak train collides with vehicle in Winton

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- One person was killed Friday after a vehicle was struck by an Amtrak train in Merced County, according to the Merced County Sheriff's Office.

The driver of the vehicle was killed, but no one on the Amtrak was hurt.

The crash happened in Winton at Sante Fe Drive and Winton Way just before 5 p.m.

The cause of the crash is under investigation and crews are expected to be on scene for several hours to determine what happened.
