1 person taken to the hospital after being shot in Central Fresno

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- One person is recovering after he was shot while riding his bike in Central Fresno. It happened just before 6:00 p.m. near Belmont and Orchard.

Police found a man in his early twenties lying in the middle of the road with a gunshot wound on his side. He said he was riding his bike through the neighborhood when he saw three people standing on the sidewalk. The victim said he felt like they wanted to start a fight and as he peddled away he was shot.

He could only describe one of the suspects as wearing a white T-shirt.

The victim was treated at Community Regional Medical Center.
