SELMA, Calif. -- A hazardous material team is cleaning up a spill south of Selma that shut down traffic in the area for much of the day.

The spill happened at about 11:30 Friday morning. A tanker carrying caustic soda ash tipped over while making a turn at Mountain View and Bethel in Fresno County.

Caustic soda ash can become very hazardous when it's mixed with moisture. A hazmat crew remained on the scene Friday night.
