FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- We're learning new details about the second murder of the year in Fresno. Investigators say a southwest Fresno man was killed in his home.

People who live near William Townsend, 78, said he ran a boarding house where people would rent out rooms. Last Saturday, police said Townsend was found shot to death inside that home. On Thursday, detectives believed they had the person responsible in jail. But the suspect has since been released after the Fresno County District Attorney's Office declined to file charges.

Neighbors who knew the victim said they're shocked to hear the news about his death. "Didn't think anything like that was going to happen to him because he was an older gentleman and didn't really bother anybody," said the victim's neighbor Timothy Sanders.

At this point police are still trying to speak to tenants who were living there. If you know anything about this crime you're urged to call police.
