UC Merced sees record number of applications

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Demand for an education at UC Merced is high.

The university is reporting the largest growth rate in the UC system. There are 2,100 undergraduate seats are available for the fall of 2016.

According to the university, a record 22,632 students applied for admission.

That's an increase of 13.5 percent over last year and the highest growth rate among all campuses in the UC system for the second year in a row.

The spring semester at UC Merced begins Tuesday.
