Handicap accessible van stolen in Fresno, involved in hit and run
Fresno County Sheriff's Deputies are looking for a man who carjacked a woman and was later involved in a hit and run crash.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Fresno County Sheriff's Deputies are looking for a man who carjacked a woman and was later involved in a hit and run crash.

The carjacking happened this morning outside a senior boarding house on Robinwood Lane in the area of Barstow Avenue and Palm Avenue -- on a county island in north Fresno.

A short time later a call came in about a hit and run near Fresno City College. The victim is a student. He says he was in his car waiting to go to class when the suspect in the stolen van hit his car. When the carjacker took off, the student gave chase.

He says he eventually pulled over and called police when the suspect started picking up speed and driving erratically. "He was driving like crazy and I was behind him and was looking for any police or any cops in the area because we were driving so fast -- I was behind him to get all the information that I could get and to pass it for (sic) the cops," said Rami Abed.

The sheriff's department says neither victim was seriously hurt. The suspect is still on the loose.
