FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A group of seniors figured they were receiving a gift that will keep on giving.
Workers wore lucky glasses and handed out Powerball tickets to residents of the Health Care Centre of Fresno.
The party brought out the kid in everyone.
Joe Donato said, "I tell you what, I said, this is awesome. What a blessing you guys are. Awesome."
Word quickly spread through the facility. Joe explained, "It's the talk of all five stories."
173 residents and 210 employees were all given tickets sent by the facility's owner - Schlomo Rechnitz - in Southern California. Senior administrator Chris Monroe described, "Just incredible excitement. People are talking about what they're going to do with their billion dollars."
Therese Encanto won a $1,000 Christmas shopping spree at the facility. Perhaps her luck will continue. Encanto said, "Everybody was talking oh I'm going to do this, I'm going to do that. It's funny a lot of people are talking about sharing with others and that's a good thing."
We could all learn from these seniors who are always looking out for someone else.
Donato said, "I would give it to different orphanages in different parts of the world where I lived and build orphanages. Help the poor, poor people here in America too."
One of these Powerball tickets could be the gift that keeps on giving.
Joe said, "Lord I hope I have the winning ticket!"
But if no one wins the Powerball jackpot, it will roll over to $2 billion dollars on Saturday.
