Wrong way driver causes a head-on crash, shuts down HWY 99
Highway 99 is back open after a crash involving a wrong-way driver shut it down overnight.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Highway 99 is back open after a crash involving a wrong-way driver shut it down overnight.

CHP officers say a driver was going south in the northbound lanes of Highway 99 in Goshen when he collided with another car head-on near Betty Drive. Both drivers were pinned in their vehicles from the crash but officials were able to get them out safely. They were both taken to local hospitals with serious injuries but are expected to survive.

Northbound Highway 99 was closed for about an hour while crews worked to clear the scene.

The driver who caused the crash will be arrested for driving under the influence.
