Hyperloop system may be ready to launch by 2018

KINGS COUNTY (KFSN) -- The high-speed transportation system called Hyperloop could be ready to launch as early as 2018.

Billionaire businessman Elon Musk came up with the idea that envisions a "Hyperloop" that could carry travelers from Los Angeles to San Francisco in a half hour.

One company working on the plan said it filed today for construction permits in Kings County for a five-mile track.

The Hyperloop is a large pneumatic tube similar to the system used by some hospitals to transport documents, samples, and medications in a more efficient manner.
