Construction begins on Fresno skate park
A new skate park will open at Romain Park in central Fresno after months of planning and input from community members.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Valley skaters will soon have a new place to practice their craft.

A new skate park will open at Romain Park in central Fresno after months of planning and input from community members.

The project is a collaboration between several organizations, including Fresno Building Healthy Communities and California Skate Parks. "Not only are they a place to play," said Sandra Celedon-Castro with Fresno Building Healthy Communities. "It also teaches folks to engage with their neighbors, and be civically engaged and be nurtured by the community."

Fresno Building Healthy Communities is part of a coalition advocating for parks in areas that need them most.

The skate park at Romain is scheduled to open this spring.
