Museum honors local African-American leaders
This year's honorees include Tulare educator Flora Johnson and former Fresno City Council member and community activist Les Kimber who died last year at the age of 80.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Several local African-American leaders were recognized Saturday.

The African-American Historical and Cultural Museum hosted the 2016 Black History Month celebration banquet. The event at Tornino's in northeast Fresno honors influential people dedicated to improving their communities.

This year's honorees include Tulare educator Flora Johnson and former Fresno City Council member and community activist Les Kimber who died last year at the age of 80.
